State of being verbs
This PDF file contains "Linking Verbs State of Being Early Literacy Short Stories". It is designed as an early literacy lesson to teach early childhood students how to use the linking verbs "to be" or "being" in the past, present, and future tenses when referring to themselves.
Narrative Writing
This product includes worksheets with four, three-page short stories. Students will write in the correct tense of the verb in the provided rectangles. The worksheets also encourage visual literacy by allowing students to color or draw what the sentence indicates.
The four short stories included are:
-
“Feelings”
-
“Being Excited”
-
“How Old Am I?”
-
“Baby, Kid, Adult”
Each worksheet provides directions for students to complete the sentence, cut out the rectangle, and compile the pages for each story. This allows them to practice chronological order in narrative writing by placing the pages in order of past, present, and future.
Teacher suggestions include using one story per literacy group or having students make a book daily or weekly.
Suitable for grades 1-3
