About Us
I've Been There, I Get It!
When I first started homeschooling my daughters I was terrified. I was terrified because I didn't know if I could actually pull this homeschooling thing off. I didn't know about learning standards or how to pick a curriculum. Even after getting my Associates Degree in Early Childhood Development I still second guessed myself when it came to their academic progression, but I eventually caught on. Later, I became angry because the history lessons in our curriculums were completely void of any representation of minority groups and the truth behind the history in America as it pertains to Black Americans. This was not the same history I learned in public school back in the 80's.
Literacy Mobility believes that strong literacy skills — reading, writing, thinking critically — are essential for creating model citizens for society. We also believe that when students see themselves in the material, they’re more engaged. And when they’re more engaged, they learn at a higher level. Lessons become real. That’s where the “mobility” comes in.
This is why we create traditional language arts lessons as well as language arts and Black History hybrid lessons that are culturally relevant and standards-aligned for educators and homeschooling families who want more than just to "wing it". They want confidence while educating and care about how their students see themselves in the world.
Our name says it all: Literacy is mobility. When students develop strong literacy skills, they unlock their potential, gain confidence, and expand their ability to move freely through academic, personal, and professional worlds.
